Hospitality workers are collectively saving six figures from their tips with TiPJAR Save, powered by Sync Savings.

London, 24 August 2026

Hospitality workers using TiPJAR Save, powered by Sync Savings, have collectively saved £100,000’s directly from their tips since publicly launching in June 2026 – building lasting savings from tips in an industry first.

Hospitality has long had some of the lowest financial resilience of any UK sector. For many workers, shifts aren’t guaranteed and working hours change from week-to-week. Their irregular, unpredictable nature makes them especially hard to save from: you cannot easily budget, or set up a standing order, against money that changes from one week to the next. The workers who would benefit most from a savings buffer have had the fewest practical ways to build one.

TiPJAR Save, built on Sync's Payroll Savings platform, lets workers choose the percentage of their tips they want to save. A portion of every tip payout moves automatically into their Save wallet, earning a competitive interest rate with money held by a regulated UK partner bank. Workers are always in control of the percentage saved, and can adjust that or withdraw their savings at any time - but the saving happens on autopilot, inside the TiPJAR app: no willpower required.

Since launch, more than 1,000 workers have started saving through TiPJAR Save, together putting away £100,000’s, and counting. The average saver holds a balance of over £125. Adoption has been rapid, with saver numbers growing more than sevenfold in a matter of weeks, some employers having 23% of their staff enrolled (and counting), and the partnership is on track to reach several thousand savers in the coming weeks. With TiPJAR processing millions of pounds in tips every month, the opportunity to turn everyday tips into lasting savings is enormous, and this is only the beginning.

TiPJAR and Sync Savings enable more than 1,000 hospitality workers to save towards 'first cars 🚘', 'engagement rings 💍', 'house deposits 🏡' and more.

Ben Thomas, CEO at TiPJAR, said:

“Hospitality is an industry full of incredible people who work hard, care deeply about what they do and make such a difference to the experiences we have every day. We’ve always believed that supporting those people means looking beyond the workplace and thinking about the wider role we can play in their lives.

That’s what makes our relationship with Sync so exciting. By combining TiPJAR’s connection to hospitality workers and their tips with Sync’s expertise in savings, we can help people turn part of what they earn from every shift into something that supports their wider financial wellbeing. Whether that’s building a safety net, saving for a first home or simply having a bit more financial freedom, being able to play a part in those moments is incredibly rewarding. We’re proud to champion financial wellbeing for hospitality workers, and we’re excited about what we can achieve together with Sync.”

Joss Tasker, CEO and co-founder of Sync Savings, said:

“We’ve always believed that the people who most need an easy way to save are the least well served by the system today, and hospitality is a perfect example of that. Tips make up a meaningful amount of a hospitality worker’s pay, but they land in unpredictable bursts and have never really had a way that makes saving simple. The uptake we’re seeing with TiPJAR Save is what happens when you have an easy solution for a deep-rooted problem: give people a seamless and effortless way to put some money away, and they use it. We’ll soon have thousands of TiPJAR users building savings balances from their tips, and they’re putting this money towards all kinds of goals, from fun money, to preparing for significant life events. We’re incredibly proud to be powering TiPJAR Save behind the scenes, and this is only the start.”

Joby Mortimer, Director of Charity Operations at Licensed Trade Charity said:

“Financial worries can have a huge impact on your mental health, particularly in an industry where the hours are long and it can sometimes feel like the cards are stacked against you. Anything that can help improve financial wellbeing is hugely important for people working in hospitality.

What’s particularly encouraging about TiPJAR Save is not just seeing people build up savings from their tips, but seeing what those savings can actually make possible. Whether it’s saving for a first car, a home, or something personal to them, turning everyday earnings into a financial safety net can make a real difference.”

The milestone comes ahead of UK Savings Week (21–27 September 2026), the national campaign encouraging people to build a savings habit. A timely moment to show what becomes possible when saving is built into the way people are already paid.
